What Makes Webinars so Effective?

You may have heard that webinars are some of the most effective ways to connect with an audience. After all, that’s why you are interested in hosting one. But why are they so effective and how well do they stack up to the other forms of communication and instruction out there. In this article, we will explore the reasons that webinars work so well for connecting to an audience and passing on information so that you can determine whether or not you should hold you own webinar.

Webinars Establish Your Credibility

If you want to be thought of as an expert in a particular niche, webinars can develop that expertise. When you deliver a seminar over the web to a large audience, you automatically get credibility points and it makes people more apt to buy things that you recommend as well as being more willing to pay for your information.

Information Gained in Webinars Has Staying Power

When people watch a video, they sometimes tune out important concepts, particularly if the video isn’t that compelling. But the live aspects of webinars make people much more willing to listen and pay attention.

Webinars Provide Information in Real Time

When you want to pass on information right away, a webinar can be a great tool. People get the information live, as you are delivering it, rather than later on, or worse, secondhand.

Webinars Are Convenient

Webinars are really convenient in comparison to actual seminars. People only need to travel to their computer – or in some cases to their mobile phone.

Webinars Provide Actual Answers

When you host a live webinar, you can actually answer your attendees questions. This is one of the big benefits of a webinar over other types of information transfer. People can ask you about something if they don’t understand it.

How to Promote Your Own Webinars

Promotion is an essential part of hosting a webinar. Remember, the whole goal of running a webinar is to share information with your audience and the larger the audience the better. Promoting your event lets people know about it and gets the word out. But how do you promote one effectively? Here are some tips that will help you make sure people know about your webinar.

1. Use email, because according to research it is the best way to promote a webinar.  ReadyTalk rated the email approach to webinar promotion with 4.46 out of 5. People are much more likely to take action when they receive an email about it.

2. However, email isn’t the only way that you should be promoting your webinar. You should also be using social media, with whatever networks you normally use. Facebook and Twitter are absolutely required and LinkedIn is a good idea as well.

3. Once people land on your registration page, you’ve still got to convince them to sign up. You might be tempted to create a long registration form so that you will have information about your attendees, but you should limit your fields to 4 instead.

4. Remind, Remind, Remind. Just because someone signed up for your webinar doesn’t meant they are going to attend. In fact, many of them will simply forget about it. That’s why you need to remind them, starting with regular reminders the month before the event and culminating in two or three email reminders the week prior.

5. Optimize your landing page properly. Make sure that they know the date and time of the webinar and how you are going to be able to solve their problem. You will also want information on the speakers and even if it is you, give them a celebrity-like write up that makes them seem like someone worth listening to.

6. If your webinar is still a few months away, and you don’t already have one, consider writing a blog about the topic you are going to be covering in your webinar. Blogs drive traffic because the richness of content puts you in the search results for a lot of keyword phrases.

7. Make sure that your webinar is featured prominently in your email signature and your forum signatures relating to the topics that you will be covering in your webinar. Also, make you are sending out emails and posting on the forums.

Hopefully, these tips will help you prepare your attendees and lead to as many people seeing you and hearing your message.  If you want to find out more about how to run webinars check out my free report Webinar Success HERE.

Essential Tips for Hosting Your First Webinar

For the first article in this series I want you to think about some of the things you should consider before running your very first webinar.  I can imagine you will be dealing with a bad case of nerves right about now. A webinar is over the internet, but that doesn’t make it any less daunting than standing up in front of people and giving a presentation.

Even though you can’t see them, you know they are out there, waiting for you to dispense wisdom on the subject of your choice. With that in mind, here are a few absolutely essential things that you should do (and don’t) on your very first webinar.

– DO conduct a dress rehearsal. Have a friend, family member or colleague sit through your webinar presentation and write down anything that went wrong or needs to be improved. Also, it would be helpful to know if they were bored at any point so you can spice things up and keep up their interest.

– DO have a tech expert on standby on webinar day. Just because everything went right on the tech side on the dress rehearsal doesn’t mean it will when you actually present your webinar. In fact, it probably won’t. NOTE: You can solve this by choosing a webinar platform that offers great customer service with your session.

– DO remind your participants by email (and then remind them again). People are forgetful and some of them will forget until the very last minute.

– DO spend five minutes explaining how the webinar will work. Talk about how people can ask questions; explain if there will be a recording that they can review and anything else they need to know.

– DO dress for success. Maybe young Steve Jobs could get away with dressing in jeans in a t-shirt, with bare feet propped up on his desk, but you need to dress like you are presenting a grant proposal for money you really need.

– DO set up your lighting, camera, backdrop and audio properly. Make sure that you aren’t washed out or in shadow, that your backdrop is neutral and consistent (not your untidy living room), that your camera angles are good and that your mic is positioned properly.

– DON’T record your webinar on the same machine you are presenting on. You’ll probably have lag problems and sometimes this can result in lost audio, video or other elements.

– DON’T use budget equipment. If you are using a cheap microphone and webcam your presentation will have much less value to your participants.

Follow these 8 points and I’m sure your first webinar will be successful.  Please feel free to comment and share your webinar experiences here.

The 7 Step System for Running Successful Webinars

Building Successful Sales Funnels With Affiliate Marketing

funnelIf you’re hoping to build an income online using affiliate marketing products it’s important to understand that some products work better with a sales funnel approach than others.  You need to find affiliate products with a great conversion rate and preferably a higher commission (greater than 40%). Although this is one of the most important considerations in choosing products to promote, it’s not the only thing you need to consider.

What is a Sales Funnel Product?

If you’re a newbie you may not know this, but a sales funnel affiliate product has a single product at the front-end and then a number of other products at the back-end.  In order to sell as an affiliate the best approach is to create a landing page where you will pre-sell the product.  This is simply a place to prepare your visitor to be a potential customer later on.  When the visitor moves from your landing page (where you will collect their email address) to the affiliate’s product page, this is the sales page. Sales that occur there are called front-end sales.  NOTE – if you collect their email address you will be able to contact them again the future to sell them other products or services.

Building a Relationship

Once the visitor becomes a customer on the sales page, other products in the funnel are promoted for the customer to buy.  These are called back-end sales. So, initially you use traffic techniques to send a visitor to the sales page as a potential customer to buy a single product, where in turn they become a paying customer.  Following that they are presented with other great (usually complimentary) products in the funnel and hopefully will spend more money. You are paid commission on both front-end and back- end sales.

Maximize Your Income

You should offer products that provide both solid front-end and strong back-end sales to maximize your income.  If you take your time, do thorough research, and learn what various affiliates have to offer in their respective funnels you can choose the ones that fit your niche, and of course pays the best commission.  You can then build a highly successful sales channels using sales funnels. Your customers and potential customers come to trust you as an expert they believe and can rely upon, and that will translate to good sales and healthy commissions.

How To Avoid 3 of the Most Common Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

PifallsAffiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of making money online. Affiliate programs give you the opportunity to make a living with the Internet.  Since affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, to implement and to make commissions on a regular basis, more and more people want to start in this business.

However, like all businesses, there are pitfalls to watch out for.   Avoiding some of the most common mistakes will help to keep your profits booming rather than slipping away.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong program

Many people want to make money online as fast as possible. In their rush to do this they tend to choose a ‘bandwagon product’. This is the type of product is considered “hot”. They choose the “in demand” product without actually considering if the product is right for them. So, instead of jumping on the bandwagon, it makes more sense to choose a product in which you are truly interested in. It must appeal to you and preferably be about something you know about.   Research the product to understand if it is in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are really easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiple programs in an attempt to maximize your earnings.  This

might be a way to generate income from multiple sources, but by doing this and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from focusing on each one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not be as big as you were hoping for. The best way to get results is by joining just one program that pays at least 40% commission. Give this your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. As soon as you see the product is making a respectable profit, you should look at other products and focus on each one of them in turn.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service yourself.

As an affiliate your main purpose is to effectively promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this, you must be able to relay to the customers the value and benefit of each product or service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote them as well and therefore they will be unlikely be persuaded to buy.

Always try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. You will then be able to describe the benefits or possible issues first hand.. Your customers should then be able to feel they trust your opinions and hopefully try or buy the products themselves.

Avoid these three pitfalls and you will hopefully be promoting a portfolio of products as an affiliate successfully.  Good luck!
