Essential Tips for Hosting Your First Webinar

For the first article in this series I want you to think about some of the things you should consider before running your very first webinar.  I can imagine you will be dealing with a bad case of nerves right about now. A webinar is over the internet, but that doesn’t make it any less daunting than standing up in front of people and giving a presentation.

Even though you can’t see them, you know they are out there, waiting for you to dispense wisdom on the subject of your choice. With that in mind, here are a few absolutely essential things that you should do (and don’t) on your very first webinar.

– DO conduct a dress rehearsal. Have a friend, family member or colleague sit through your webinar presentation and write down anything that went wrong or needs to be improved. Also, it would be helpful to know if they were bored at any point so you can spice things up and keep up their interest.

– DO have a tech expert on standby on webinar day. Just because everything went right on the tech side on the dress rehearsal doesn’t mean it will when you actually present your webinar. In fact, it probably won’t. NOTE: You can solve this by choosing a webinar platform that offers great customer service with your session.

– DO remind your participants by email (and then remind them again). People are forgetful and some of them will forget until the very last minute.

– DO spend five minutes explaining how the webinar will work. Talk about how people can ask questions; explain if there will be a recording that they can review and anything else they need to know.

– DO dress for success. Maybe young Steve Jobs could get away with dressing in jeans in a t-shirt, with bare feet propped up on his desk, but you need to dress like you are presenting a grant proposal for money you really need.

– DO set up your lighting, camera, backdrop and audio properly. Make sure that you aren’t washed out or in shadow, that your backdrop is neutral and consistent (not your untidy living room), that your camera angles are good and that your mic is positioned properly.

– DON’T record your webinar on the same machine you are presenting on. You’ll probably have lag problems and sometimes this can result in lost audio, video or other elements.

– DON’T use budget equipment. If you are using a cheap microphone and webcam your presentation will have much less value to your participants.

Follow these 8 points and I’m sure your first webinar will be successful.  Please feel free to comment and share your webinar experiences here.

Building Successful Sales Funnels With Affiliate Marketing

funnelIf you’re hoping to build an income online using affiliate marketing products it’s important to understand that some products work better with a sales funnel approach than others.  You need to find affiliate products with a great conversion rate and preferably a higher commission (greater than 40%). Although this is one of the most important considerations in choosing products to promote, it’s not the only thing you need to consider.

What is a Sales Funnel Product?

If you’re a newbie you may not know this, but a sales funnel affiliate product has a single product at the front-end and then a number of other products at the back-end.  In order to sell as an affiliate the best approach is to create a landing page where you will pre-sell the product.  This is simply a place to prepare your visitor to be a potential customer later on.  When the visitor moves from your landing page (where you will collect their email address) to the affiliate’s product page, this is the sales page. Sales that occur there are called front-end sales.  NOTE – if you collect their email address you will be able to contact them again the future to sell them other products or services.

Building a Relationship

Once the visitor becomes a customer on the sales page, other products in the funnel are promoted for the customer to buy.  These are called back-end sales. So, initially you use traffic techniques to send a visitor to the sales page as a potential customer to buy a single product, where in turn they become a paying customer.  Following that they are presented with other great (usually complimentary) products in the funnel and hopefully will spend more money. You are paid commission on both front-end and back- end sales.

Maximize Your Income

You should offer products that provide both solid front-end and strong back-end sales to maximize your income.  If you take your time, do thorough research, and learn what various affiliates have to offer in their respective funnels you can choose the ones that fit your niche, and of course pays the best commission.  You can then build a highly successful sales channels using sales funnels. Your customers and potential customers come to trust you as an expert they believe and can rely upon, and that will translate to good sales and healthy commissions.

How To Avoid 3 of the Most Common Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

PifallsAffiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of making money online. Affiliate programs give you the opportunity to make a living with the Internet.  Since affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, to implement and to make commissions on a regular basis, more and more people want to start in this business.

However, like all businesses, there are pitfalls to watch out for.   Avoiding some of the most common mistakes will help to keep your profits booming rather than slipping away.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong program

Many people want to make money online as fast as possible. In their rush to do this they tend to choose a ‘bandwagon product’. This is the type of product is considered “hot”. They choose the “in demand” product without actually considering if the product is right for them. So, instead of jumping on the bandwagon, it makes more sense to choose a product in which you are truly interested in. It must appeal to you and preferably be about something you know about.   Research the product to understand if it is in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are really easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiple programs in an attempt to maximize your earnings.  This

might be a way to generate income from multiple sources, but by doing this and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from focusing on each one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not be as big as you were hoping for. The best way to get results is by joining just one program that pays at least 40% commission. Give this your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. As soon as you see the product is making a respectable profit, you should look at other products and focus on each one of them in turn.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service yourself.

As an affiliate your main purpose is to effectively promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this, you must be able to relay to the customers the value and benefit of each product or service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote them as well and therefore they will be unlikely be persuaded to buy.

Always try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. You will then be able to describe the benefits or possible issues first hand.. Your customers should then be able to feel they trust your opinions and hopefully try or buy the products themselves.

Avoid these three pitfalls and you will hopefully be promoting a portfolio of products as an affiliate successfully.  Good luck!

How To Choose the Right Affiliate Program

PT_Handshake ClaspedOne of the biggest issues faced by affiliate marketers is trying to choose the right programs. There are so many products and services available to promote you can spend more time picking one than promoting it!  However, I hope to make your choice a little easier after you have read this article.

You should start by making a list of things you know about.  This might be related to your current or previous jobs, but more likely to do with the things you do in your spare time – gaming, sports, or other hobbies and pastimes.  It’s always good to work in an area you are familiar with.  It’s even better to promote some of the products you already own if they have an affiliate program. You can relate to it so much better and relay your enthusiasm for the subject with your potential customer. Start by browsing or searching affiliate programs on websites like JV Zoo, Clickbank or Amazon.

Make a short list of products you think you would like to promote, and start asking questions.

Who is the Retailer?

Find out whom you are doing business with to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know about the retailer offering you the affiliate program, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you and your site.

Upfront Costs

Will it cost you anything to join? Fortunately, most affiliate programs don’t cost anything but if they do, have a think about if it’s going to be worth it.

Sales Ratio

What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This is extremely important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.

Commissions

How much commission is paid? Most programs pay 20% – 80% and some even pay 100% at the front end.  If you find a program that also pays for impressions, the amount paid tends not to be much at all.

How often will I get paid?

When do they issue the commission checks? Every program is different. Some will pay you once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.

Tracking

How are referrals tracked and how long do they remain in the system? You need to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can credit for a sale. The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.

Statistics

What stats are available? Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales have been generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site.

These are just a few questions you need answering before you sign up to the affiliate program.  Find the right ones for you and good luck promoting them.

THREE Top Tips To Survive as an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketers spend much of their time searching for the best niches and products to give them the biggest paychecks. As you know, there is no magic formula.  The way to successful affiliate marketing is by following established marketing practices that have stood the test of time with years of hard work and dedication.  These top three marketing tips will enable you to increase sales and ensure you survive affiliate marketing online.

What are these three tactics?

1. Use unique web pages to promote each product you are marketing.

WebpageDo not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have individual sites focused on each and every product and nothing more.  Always try to include product reviews so your prospects will have a first hand opinion of both what the product can do and how good it is. Also include testimonials from customers who have already bought the product. Be sure that these customers are willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

You could also write articles highlighting the features of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive, compelling and include calls to action. Your headline should attract your visitors to continue reading and hopefully to purchase the product. Highlight the product’s most important (and unique) selling points so your reader understands exactly what you are selling.

2. Offer a free reports to your visitors.

ebook_cover_3D_largeIf possible position a call to action for a free report at the very top of your page so it simply cannot be missed. Create autoresponder messages that will be emailed to those who input their personal information into your sign up box. You only need to ask for their first name and email address – nothing else.  According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.

Only two things can possibly happen with the web page – a successful sale or the prospect leaving the page never to return again. By sending them a useful free report along with loads of valuable related information to their inboxes every day, you will remind them of the product they originally considered on your website. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.

Focus on the important points like how this product would make their life easier. Include compelling subject lines in the email to make them open and read. Try to avoid using the word “free” because there are still spam filters which will move your email straight into the junk or spam folder.  Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not buy this product or service.

3. Targeted traffic is the key to a sale

website_traffic_tinyYour visitors must be the people who are most likely to buy the product.  In order to find and attract the right traffic you can write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports.  Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site every day.  Remember that only 1 out of 100 visitors are likely to buy the product or services. If you can generate as many as 1,000 targeted hits every day, you will potentially make 10 sales on average.

By following these 3 simple tactics you can be sure to attract the right type of customer who will go ahead and buy the product you are promoting as an affiliate and help you to start building your list.  You can then use your autoresponder to send both visitors and customers regular emails containing really great information with the aim to making even more sales of other great products.
