Forum Marketing for Beginners

help, advice, supportThe world of internet marketing is a complex web of information, opinion and people wanting to take money from you if you want to take your first tentative steps in this area.

If I was to start again from day one, what would I do?  I’ve seen the industry evolve so much over the past 9 years or so but one thing has never changed. You can’t do this on your own.  It is important that you surround yourself with others who are already making money in internet marketing.  This is easier than you might think.

One of the easiest methods of generating traffic is Forum Marketing.  The most popular forum is the Warrior Forum which is a gathering place for thousands of marketers of all levels of experience and abilities.  This forum contains hundreds of threads where members have asked questions about almost every aspect of marketing on the internet.

Many of them ask how to get started but by reading the replies posted by the more experienced forum members, those who have been there for the longest time, or have made lots of posts and thanked by other members, you can gain invaluable information.

This will help you leap ahead of others who still think internet marketing is a ‘get rich quick’ scheme. Read their answers and understand marketing processes, or how to bring traffic to your website. There are technical threads which help you create your own website or create your own blog.

As you become more experienced you too can help others by posting your own replies from everything you’ve learnt. When you post a reply your profile signature is posted underneath your response. This can contain a link to your own blog or website, or affiliate link, or preferably for a product you have created yourself.

Take time out to learn forum marketing at the Warrior Forum. It costs nothing but it will take you in the right direction if you want to be successful in the world of internet marketing.

Taking action – realisation and an invaluable lesson

taking actionRather short impromptu post today because I’m about to make changes to my website following the lead of an iPro Partner friend of mine Munir Ahmed.  Munir recently broadcast a really great show on Periscope explaining how he made his first 4 figure day.

We had previously chatted on Facebook about how he was starting to bring traffic to his site using the Warrior Forum.  I had also watched traffic training videos from Dean Holland around forum marketing and Warrior was one of the sites he suggested.

So today I took time out of my ‘busy’ work day to see if I could find a couple of threads I could post replies to – always with the aim of helping first (the money comes later … I hope).  Whilst searching I visited my profile page and added more details including my Facebook page, Twitter username and of course my website.  But whilst checking that page I realised to my horror that I’d joined the Warrior Forum SIX years ago !!!  Yes, SIX and hadn’t posted anything EVER !!!

I felt ashamed that although I’ve tried all sorts of different marketing tactics and invested many thousands of pounds over the years (since 2006 actually), I had never taken the straightforward simple step of taking action by doing exactly what some other marketer (don’t know who) had told me to do SIX years ago.

So, after posting two replies on different threads I have finally taken action and learned an invaluable lesson. Taking action is the key and procrastination will never make any sales!! As part of my marketing strategy I aim to find one or two Warrior Forum threads to post on every day and write a well considered, informative and helpful reply.  That means within a couple of weeks I should have enough posts to add my own links to my forum signature and attract visitors to either my website or to the iPro sales funnel exactly as my good friend Munir is doing today.

My next big achievement since watching Michael Cheney’s first Periscope a few weeks’ ago will be to broadcast my own first scope … but one step at a time 😉 !!

3 secret tricks to get noticed on Periscope

Periscope logoPeriscope is growing by thousands of users every day.  As more people get online you need to find clever ways to get yourself noticed if you want people to watch your scope and follow you.  On Aug 12, 2015 it was announced that Periscope had reached over 10 million users, just 4 months after it was launched. It was noted that over 40 years of video was being watched per day.  So how many users must there be now?  Double that?

Periscope is being used for many different purposes but it can be used by you as an internet marketing tool.  By amassing new followers each and every time you broadcast you can gain a completely new set of leads who have got to know you and earn their trust.

So how can YOU get noticed on Periscope??

  1. Make your Scope stand out by using emoticons in your session title.  Include one at the start and one at the end of your title to make it look a little different to everyone else.
  2. Think about what people might be looking for, eg, use a ‘How to … ‘ headline or ‘The number one easiest way to … ‘
  3. Check your headline for typo’s so nobody thinks you’re an illiterate idiot.

Just in case anyone was offended by number 3, here’s a BONUS secret trick.

  • Your Periscope broadcasts are only available on the app or the website for 24 hours BUT you can use a secret site called to store them for longer.  This site also allows you to pause, rewind or forward videos giving you greater control than in the Periscope app.  You are given your own page just like on Periscope where your followers can find all of your old recorded scopes.

How to create an irresistible Lead Magnet?

One of the best ways to get your website visitors to sign up to your email list is by offering them something for free.  In order for them to complete the form the offer (or lead magnet) must be of sufficient value to peak their interest.  Here is a quick overview of Lead Magnets and what you should consider when designing your offer.

What is a Lead Magnet?

A lead magnet is something you give your website visitors in exchange for joining your email list.  These are usually a free report or a discount, eg, 10% or 15% off.

Why use Lead Magnets?

Because they get results!  You can easily double your conversion rate by adding an incentive to sign up.  A really good lead magnet can get you 30%, 60% or DOUBLE the results.

What makes a good Lead Magnet?

A good lead magnet gets the attention of your visitors.  It should addresse their biggest fears, problems or challenges.  It should be useful, and tells them what they really want to know.

How to find out what your visitors want to know

1. Put yourself in their shoes : If you were looking for info, what would you really want to know?  Make a list of things that come to mind then delete everything off the list that is easy to find out, ie, easily found in the search engines.  You want to answer the questions or solve the problems people can’t find anywhere else to make your site unique, and will make your opt-in incentive irresistible.

2. Check out forums and blogs in your niche : Which articles or blog posts are most popular – see which conversations get the most activity.

3. Use social media : visit the major FB pages in your niche.  Don’t forget You Tube – which videos have the most views – pay attention to the questions people ask.

4. Research Amazon reviews : Reviews can tell you all sorts of information about why people bought a book or product.  Check out comments made about reviews

5. Survey your audience : Create a survey using Get Response to find out what your audience wants to know.  What’s your biggest frustration with your niche?  What’s the one thing about your niche you haven’t been able to find info about?

Strategy and Focus

Step out of your comfort zoneI watched a fantastic iPro training video with Dean Holland this morning. He outlined 6 strategy ideas to be followed in order to focus your efforts in building an online business.

The idea is to focus on a few traffic building methods like solo ads, blogging, podcasting, or banner advertising. But be consistent in how many times you perform these tasks. If you consistently write blog posts, comment in forums or other blogs then you’re slowly increasing the number of times your affiliate link is visible to potential leads.

This commitment to your business may be unfamiliar to you as you try all sorts of ways to making money, but in the end it is stepping outside of your comfort zone which will pay dividends.

We all hate public speaking but make the effort to broadcast your first scope on Periscope, make a short video on something you know lots about and share it on YouTube or Vimeo, do something you wouldn’t normally do.

Take time out to identify your strategy and focus.  Step out of you Comfort Zone today !!!!

My top 5 tips for running Solo Ads

As part of my traffic training for the iPro Partners programme I decided to try out running a solo ad with a third party provider.  Solo ads target people on another person’s email list. Although this is a paid traffic method, the idea is that the list owners are able to email their list and guarantee a pre-agreed number of clicks / visits to your website or affiliate link. The fastest way to find a solo ad provider is by searching public groups on Facebook.

Facebook Solo Ads GroupsSelect one of the groups and click the Join Group button. You will need to wait for the group owner to approve your membership, but once a member you can start searching the many testimonials left by other marketers.  Next, you should select someone based on the reviews then send them a FB message to ask them about their service.  Clicks can cost anything from $0.40 to $0.70 per click.  You will usually pay upfront via PayPal.  You will need to provide the URL for your affiliate link then ask if the provider will create the swipe for the ad, or if you need to prepare one (which you will usually find in your affiliate members area).

Top 5 tips for running Solo Ads

  1. Ask about conversion rates to ensure a great percentage of optins from clicks (30 – 50%)
  2. Make sure you or your provider tracks the clicks
  3. Select a provider with over 70% tier 1 subscribers (ie, UK, USA, Canada and Australia)
  4. Ask if the provider has advertised your affiliate product recently
  5. Ask how often the list is refreshed (ie, adding new subscribers)

I received the majority of my clicks within a few hours of the email being sent.  I received an opt-in rate of approx 32% but no confirmed orders to date.  I understand the follow-up email sequence is very good so I hope to see sales very soon.

I was also sent a click tracking report by the Solo Ads Provider which showed me the number of clicks, % of Tier 1 list members, number of unique IPs and mobile clicks.  There was also a chart showing demographic spread in more detail.

I will provide an update as soon as I see any results, ie, sales !
